Edenton Police Department

Child Passenger Safety Seats

About 85% of all child safety seats or booster seats are improperly used.

The Edenton Police Department currently has one officer who are certified to properly install infant/child safety seats. Officers who are qualified with this certification must successfully take and complete a 32-hour course which includes both a written and a two-phase practical exam.

Due to the time it takes an officer to correctly research and install the safety seat, we ask that all requests are made by appointment only, and you should allow at least 30 minutes for the installation.

When calling to make an appointment, please be prepared to provide the make/model of the child safety seat along with the serial number or the date of manufacture. It also is important to have the owner’s manual available for the vehicle and the child safety seat at the time of the appointment.  Requests for child safety seat installations can be made by calling the Edenton Police Dept. Mon-Friday at (252)482-5144
